Justin Cope
Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer
Justin founded Flywheel Energy in 2017 and led the company through its growth to a ~$3bn enterprise. In 2024, Justin oversaw Flywheel’s recapitalization via a partnership with Stone Ridge Asset Management. Prior to forming Flywheel Energy, Justin led business development and development and production operations at Continental Resources. At Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse, he provided strategic and capital markets advisory to clients across the energy industry. A graduate of the US Army Ranger School, Justin began his career as an officer with the 10th Mountain Division. Ultimately attaining the rank of Captain, Justin’s military service includes combat troop leadership in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Find Justin on LinkedIn.

Brandon Rumbelow
Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining Flywheel, Brandon was the Chief Financial Officer for bpx energy. Brandon began his tenure at bpx as Head of Commercial Midstream, before becoming the Head of Finance and Planning. Previous to bpx, Brandon served as the Director of Corporate Development at SandRidge Energy. A graduate of the US Army Ranger School, Brandon began his career as an officer in the 101st Airborne Division. Ultimately attaining the rank of Captain, Brandon’s military service includes combat troop leadership during multiple deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Find Brandon on LinkedIn.

David Howald
Chief Operating Officer
Prior to joining Flywheel Energy as a founding team member in 2017, David worked at BP Lower 48 leading Anadarko operations and digital/analytics functions. Earlier in his career at SandRidge Energy, David led operations teams in various field-level supervisory and engineering management roles. A graduate of the US Army Ranger School, David began his career as an officer with the 101st Airborne Division. David Edwards
Executive Vice President, Finance
Prior to joining Flywheel Energy, Dave was the Chief Strategy Officer for 89 Energy. Dave began his career in Equity Research at UBS covering energy equities, and has since had various roles in finance and leadership at public and private E&P companies, including positions as CFO at Tapstone Energy and Roan Resources, and later President of Tapstone, before joining 89 Energy.

James Head
Executive Vice President, Drilling & Completions
Prior to joining Flywheel Energy, James executed 89 Energy's engineering and operational strategy as the Chief Operating Officer. At Le Norman Operating, he held engineering and leadership roles overseeing the engineering and execution of drilling and completion operations in the Anadarko Basin. Beginning his career at Chesapeake Energy, James held various production, completion, and drilling engineering roles. His work at Chesapeake was primarily spent working the Haynesville Shale and several unconventional plays in the Anadarko Basin when the company was the most active driller in the continental United States. Matt Long
Executive Vice President, Operations
Matt joined Flywheel with the acquisition of Southwestern where he led the field operations team from initial optimization through the recapitalization with Stone Ridge Asset Management. Prior to joining Flywheel Energy, Matt led the Anadarko and Arkoma Basins for bpx as an Operations Manager in addition to other positions with Development teams in Wamsutter and the Midcontinent. Matt began his career at Enterprise Products in Mont Belvieu where he held various engineering roles from operations to capital projects. He moved to SandRidge Energy where he held engineering and operational management roles in support of production and D&C activities across the Midcontinent and Rockies. Find Matt on LinkedIn.

Faye Suter
Senior Vice President, Reservoir Engineering
Prior to joining Flywheel, Faye was the Head of Planning, Strategy, and Reserves at bpx energy in Denver. Most of her career has been in the reservoir engineering space, with her most recent subsurface role being the Head of Permian Reservoir Engineering at bpx. Faye started her career with QEP where she worked in a variety of subsurface roles supporting the Uinta, Pinedale, and Midland assets. Find Faye on LinkedIn.
